Solstice_2

‘Twas the night before Solstice, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, fighting off the flu on the couch
The peace wreath was hung on the house with care,
in hopes that Peace on Earth soon would be there.

When out in the snow tiny feet they did patter
a knock at the door, “OH, what was the matter?”
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But my neighbors and friends, with their children in colorful gear!

They offered their hearts and songs of good cheer,
and as quietly as they came they all disappeared
As I closed the door my eyes filled with tears,
I was filled to the brim with friendships so dear.

With Love and Gratitude,

Sheri and Andy (who was recovering from the flu! But heard your beautiful voices!)
